We hope your children have discussed the exciting day we have next Wednesday. Division 9 and 11 and some other divisions at Newton are celebrating Global School Play Day. Please visit here for more information and play the catchy song! There is a video of Peter Gray on the decline of play and the importance of play here. We are encouraging students to bring toys and board games to share and play with next Wednesday. Students are asked not to bring any electronic devices or any toys that require batteries. We are super excited to be a part of this initiative. Please fill out the form and return it before February 4th. We will be posting pictures on our twitter account @Gr2_3Storm so please follow us!
Today we started off the day with a fun performance on climate change called Keep Cool. It was an entertaining show. Please see the attached pictures. After the performance we had some time to discuss our upcoming Global School Play Day before snack and recess. After recess we had Daily 3. After lunch we continued to develop our Genius Hour questions and talked about quick questions and deep questions. We are hoping to start our research next week. We went to gym where we had some self directed play time and then we were introduced to shooting in basketball. We finished the day with planner and clean up. Reminder that tomorrow is Pizza day for those that ordered. If you didn't order please bring a lunch tomorrow in case the pizza sells out. Woohoo! Today we had our first Superstar Awards of the year! We are so proud of all our students that received this award. Congratulations to Gavyn, Amber, Griya, Harjap from Division 9 and Neekhil, Simrit, Hanraj and Harnoor from Division 11. Again congratulations and keep learning!
We are all starting to get back into the routine after Christmas break. We introduced the students to Genius Hour and are very excited to see the students passions! Students seemed excited but we know as soon as they start their projects their excitement will grow.
