Woohoo! Today we had our first Superstar Awards of the year! We are so proud of all our students that received this award. Congratulations to Gavyn, Amber, Griya, Harjap from Division 9 and Neekhil, Simrit, Hanraj and Harnoor from Division 11. Again congratulations and keep learning!
We are all starting to get back into the routine after Christmas break. We introduced the students to Genius Hour and are very excited to see the students passions! Students seemed excited but we know as soon as they start their projects their excitement will grow.
Today we learned how to get onto Tumblebooks on the iPad. In January, students will be using the ipads for listening to reading. If your child has not brought in headphones/buds please do as they will need them. Also, if you have access to the internet students are able to go onto Tumblebooks at home: Username: sd36bc and password: sd36bc. Tumblebooks has a variety of fiction and non fiction books for the students to listen to. If you have telus, tumblebooks might be part of your package and students can go on the tv to listen to reading. We do encourage students to continue to read for 20 minutes a day over the holidays. Listening to reading is in addition to this.

The student responses were awesome! We love that many of the students put a lot of thought into their answers. After that we went to an Assembly where primary students that read 250 nights last year were awarded their medals. Lots of students were awarded this from Division 9 and 11 So that made for some very happy teachers! We also found out that our school was the school that raised the most in all of Canada for the Make a Wish foundation. Fantastic!

We did an OWI about a mouse on a frog and students had some excellent responses! We love how curious they are becoming. We ended the day with gym where we continued our Volleyball unit.
